FORTUNATO D’AMICO
Fortunato D’Amico is an independent art curator, graduated in Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan, where he studied contemporary art with Germano Celant. He graduated with Ernesto d’Alfonso with a thesis on Baroque symbolic languages derived from the use of astronomy and mythology. He has taught design and architecture at the Polytechnic University of Turin and Milan, where he still holds positions in architecture courses. He has conducted numerous workshops and conferences at foreign universities and is a promoter of multidisciplinary artistic projects in the fields of design, science, anthropology, society, and environment. He is among the organizers and promoters of the Dedalo Minosse International Prize for Architecture and the Vergilius d’Oro of Mantua, an event dedicated to the multidisciplinarity of architecture and art. He was the curator of the MaCS Mazda Contemporary Space in Milan. He has organized exhibitions and installations at foreign cultural and artistic institutions. He was the curator in 2010 of the Culture Nature (arts and architecture) event, a collateral of the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale, held at the Spazio Tethis, at the Arsenale. From 2010 to 2018, he curated the blog Cultura Natura for lastampa.it. From 2013 to 2018, he was the curator of the exhibition Natura ConTemporanea, at the G.A.M. Gallery of Modern Art of the Museum of Genoa Nervi. In 2018, he organized the cycle of 10 meetings titled The Long ’68 of Art, at the Polo del ‘900 in Turin. In 2021, he was the artistic and scientific director of the exhibition Eternal Feminine | Eternal Change at the Cavaniglia Pavilion of the Fortezza da Basso, an event of the 13th Florence Biennale. He has written, directed, and presented television programs dedicated to the art world, such as Archibalena and I Talenti, broadcast on Sky networks. He writes catalogs and essays for various publishing houses. He is one of the curators of the Pistoletto Foundation-Città dell’arte. He is the current president of Think Globally Act Locally, a non-profit association with civic and social utility purposes, created to promote the United Nations 2030 Agenda, an action plan agreed and signed in Paris in 2015 by 193 States, which develops through 17 interdisciplinary goals to be achieved by 2030.
