PHOTOLOGY
The new journey of Franco Perrotti begins in Noto.
Previewed in Noto for Photology AIR 2019, the “artist’s proof,” a project within a project. A template, a sort of mold of six hundred and forty-two birch silhouettes assembled together, to organize the metallic and hollow chaos of thousands of small steel pieces. The Dissuasore, indeed.
(Paola Riccitelli)

Franco Perrotti’s pigeon is an allegory, both a point of convergence between consumer civilization and the natural environment and a mediocre scavenger of others’ debris, representing the renunciation of looking “beyond” in exchange for a pre-cooked tranquility. Thus, it becomes a huge urban fetish, a construct of intersections of wire bristling with nails and spikes, the same used to keep it away from roofs and cornices. A mocking and paradoxical deterrent for humans.
