ON THE OCCASION OF DUBAI DESIGN WEEK
AND DUBAI ART WEEK 2024

NOVEMBER 6-24, 2024
ALSERKAL AVENUE GALLERY
Street 17 Industrial, Area 1 Al Quoz
Area Warehouse 46 DUBAI
Under the auspices of the Italian Cultural Institute of Abu Dhabi

An artistic project that explores the theme of borders and rejection and the complex relationship between human beings.
The installations are conceived as a staging of Franco Perrotti’s design and creative process, blending and organizing the themes and languages of his “Design Making” with the contents and representations of his Art. The exhibition path consists of 25 works presented on the two levels of the spacious location. On the ground floor, the large “Dissuaders” and reinterpretations of details of various sizes made with different materials are displayed. The walls feature images from videos produced by photographer and director Bruna Rotunno, audiovisual director Ernani Paterra, and photographer Enrico Di Nenno, interpreting the work and strength of the creative act of an artist who combines “handmade” following traditional work canons with the results of high-tech machines, mixing tradition and digital. On the mezzanine, 16 specimens of glazed ceramic and steel nail Dissuaders will be exhibited, completed by a design detail with the dual function of a container and exhibition table, made of wood and steel accessories. Some walls will display bas-reliefs of the Dissuader in resin with a gold leaf finish. Enriching the exhibition are the videos curated and created by Bruna Rotunno.

“The dissuader is a thought, a reflection, a metaphor.
I would like it to be a scream.
As time goes by, the world is increasingly saturated with fences,
obstacles, walls, guards, and patrol boats.
Yet, we had moved past Woodstock and the dream was different.”
